|Descent into Dull.|

I was warned that studying the law makes one far more boring -- at least to the outside world. And, worse yet, in addition to becoming less well-humored, I would grow to find severely unfunny things to be very funny.

I laughed out loud for about 2min when I read the following, and then I re-read it like when you rewatch the funny part of a movie because it tickled you so:

"... A jury might well conclude that a light near an open hatch or rail on the side of a vessel's deck would have prevented a person's falling into the hatch or into the water, in the dark. But there is nothing whatever to show that the decedent was not drowned because he did not know how to swim, nor anything to show that, if there had been a life buoy on board, the decedent's wife would have got it in time, that is, sooner than she got the small line [which she got too late to be of any assistance to him], or, if she had, that she would have thrown it so that her hsuband could have seized it, or, if she did, that he would have seized it, or that, if he did, it would have prevented him from drowning." -- N.Y. Central R.R. v. Grimstad, 264 F. 334 (2d Cir. 1920).

Septimus, are you single?

By Anonymous Anonymous, at 8:32 PM

Ha. If I weren't single, I'd have nearly nothing at all to write (bitch? moan? bitch??) about.

Ok, so do you have MySpace account or some manner in which one can see you and your wonderful tattoo?

By Anonymous Anonymous, at 10:44 PM

Sorry to say, I do not. Well, not really that sorry. But, nevertheless, I do not.

I know that MySpace is a rather pedestrian endeavor in terms of the online world, but I had to ask.

By Anonymous Anonymous, at 10:51 PM

I appreciate the asking. It's nice to be asked and it's nice to be nice.

I need some good advice on the personal statement aspect of the law school application process. It seems as if the 'great' statements or at least the ones deemed to be great have a very relaxed, writing style accompanied with an 'I can overcome anything' mantra. Typically, I find myself to be reserved so the heavy-handed use of the first person persective with all the emotive elements seems foreign to me. I am very hesitant to mention the gay aspect, but it is something that factors in, right?

Well, for what it's worth, I'm quite certain that you won't be single for much longer. Your words are indicative of a great mind, and that alone is sexy.

Are these posts all coming from the same Anonymous person?

1. Given that I'm not much different than I was a year ago or 4 years ago, I do not know that being who I am is doing much to undercut the amount of time remaining in my singleness.

2. My blog is not the place to help you with your law school application concerns. You can send an email to my crappy shiate email address that I don't mind putting out there for all the world to see and I can communicate with you from there: denby116@hotmail.com.

Do you have an e-mail address? Conversing through 'comments' is rather different. Everyone can see our converstation, and I certainly wouldn't want to have anything in common with Mark Foley:) Ok, perhaps that was bad joke.

Ok, I just sent an e-mail to your hotmail address.
